Can One Suspended Google Ads Client Affect Other Accounts in Your MCC?

Map genuine account relationships and individual notices before assuming a suspension affects every agency client.

One suspended client does not prove that every account in an agency's manager account will be suspended. Google does warn that related accounts may face action. Inspect each notice and the actual business relationships before deciding the scope.

A manager account, often called an MCC, lets an agency manage client accounts together. Google's third-party policy requires a separate account for each end advertiser. Shared management and a shared advertiser identity are different facts.

Map relationships before drawing conclusions

Use our suggested account map to organise the investigation. The fields below are useful evidence categories. They are not a list of Google's undisclosed detection signals.

RelationshipRecordQuestion to resolve
Business ownershipLegal entity and trading names. Are these separate clients or brands of one business?
Advertising accountCustomer ID, owner, and historic IDs.Which account actually represents each advertiser?
VerificationVerified identity and task records. Was the correct organisation identified?
BillingPayer and contractual billing arrangement.Does the evidence explain who funds the ads?
AccessCurrent and historic managers and users.Who could authorise or make changes?
WebsitesDomains and commercial operators.Who sells, delivers, and receives enquiries?

Keep the map factual. A shared agency employee does not prove common business ownership. A different domain does not prove independence. Ask for records when a client description and the account history disagree.

Separate ordinary agency work from avoidance

Managing different clients under one manager is ordinary agency work. Moving a suspended business's activity into another account to escape enforcement is a different situation. Read our Circumventing Systems guide before proposing account changes.

Google's suspension guidance warns about related accounts and directs advertisers to separate appeals for affected accounts. Do not present unlinking as a way to erase the previous relationship.

The third-party policy also addresses agencies that enable significant or sustained violations. That is a reason to maintain client checks and act on problems. It does not establish that a single client notice automatically condemns an entire manager hierarchy.

Keep each account's case distinct

Create one case record per restricted account. Add the exact policy label, notice date, previous appeal references, and named business. Maintain a separate shared timeline for events that genuinely affect several accounts.

For example, a compromised agency login may affect multiple clients. A misleading offer on one client's website may have a narrower scope. If unfamiliar access appears, follow Google's official reporting guidance first. Our compromised-account reporting guide helps organise the supporting records.

Do not circulate one client's identity documents across other clients' appeal folders. Use only evidence that explains the account under review. Where a shared relationship matters, explain it accurately and include the relevant authorised records.

Fictional worked example: two clients, one agency

This invented example concerns an agency managing Oak Cycle Repairs and Birch Office Furniture. Oak receives a suspension notice. Birch continues to show an active account status.

ObservationCheckEvidence and next action
Both accounts share the agency manager. The agency verifies separate client contracts and business owners.Retain account IDs and a short ownership map.
Oak's verification record names the agency. The administrator compares it with the client company record.Document the mismatch and investigate the proper correction route.
Birch has no suspension notice. The account owner checks current status and access.Record the observation without claiming permanent immunity.
A former freelancer still has access. The agency confirms whether that access remains authorised.Update the access record and remove unnecessary access through normal controls.

The agency does not infer that the shared manager caused Oak's suspension. Its next action is to investigate Oak's notice and identity mismatch. Birch remains a separate monitoring record. No appeal result is claimed.

Use onboarding and incident checklists

Before accepting account access, record the advertiser's identity, business model, authorised contact, existing accounts, and unresolved notices. Ask the client to disclose historic suspensions relevant to the business. Record uncertainty instead of treating an incomplete answer as clearance.

For an incident, nominate a coordinator and account-specific owners. Have them preserve notices, inspect shared access, and separate completed corrections from proposed actions. Recheck the map when ownership, domains, or billing arrangements change.

Google offers manager security mandates, including authentication controls across linked accounts. Review the controls your agency actually enforces and document any gaps.

Our agency compliance support can help organise account relationships and incident evidence. Use a diagnosis request to state which accounts have notices and which remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Will unlinking the suspended client remove the risk?

Do not assume that it will. Unlinking does not rewrite account history or resolve the original policy issue. Make access changes for legitimate operational reasons.

Must every client use a different payment method?

Do not treat payment separation as a universal suspension remedy. Document the genuine payer and authorised billing arrangement for each client.

Can one appeal cover every suspended account?

Google directs advertisers to submit separate appeals for affected accounts. Keep each account's evidence specific and explain relevant shared relationships.

What should I check in an inherited account?

Review historic access, verified identity, billing, domains, and previous notices before making changes. Ask the client to resolve gaps in the handover record.
