Google Business Profile Suspended After an Address Change: Prepare Your Appeal Evidence
Check the real operating location and prepare matching records before opening the appeal evidence form.
A suspension after an address change does not prove the edit caused it. Check the restriction notice and whether the profile accurately represents the business. Then prepare evidence of the location and operating model before opening the appeal.
Google's business representation guidelines distinguish customer-facing premises from service-area businesses. A mailing address or company registration does not, by itself, establish an eligible storefront.
Classify the real operation
Answer these questions with the owner or location manager. Use what happens at the premises, rather than the label on a lease.
| Business situation | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Customers visit a storefront. | Confirm genuine customer access, staffing, signage, and the stated opening hours. |
| Staff visit customers. | Confirm the operating base and whether the public address should be hidden. |
| The address receives post only. | Do not present it as a shop or customer service location. |
| The business sells only online. | Check product eligibility before pursuing a local profile appeal. |
Google generally expects service-area businesses without a customer-facing storefront to hide their address. A virtual office does not qualify simply because it supplies post or a prestigious location. Check the specific location rules before relying on shared-office arrangements.
If the business is online-only, read our Business Profile and Merchant Center guide. Eligibility for one Google product does not establish eligibility for another.
Build a location evidence folder
Our proposed method starts with a dated location history. Record the previous address, new address, move date, and date of each profile edit. Explain whether the legal entity changed or only the operating premises changed.
Google's suspension appeal guidance lists business registration, licences, tax certificates, and utility bills as potentially useful evidence. It asks for matching business details. Select the records that support your actual setup.
- Compare the current profile name and address with the records you intend to supply.
- Explain any difference between a registered office and an operating location.
- Keep dated photographs of relevant premises and permanent signage where applicable.
- Check that the website accurately states how customers receive the service.
- Label historic documents clearly so they cannot be mistaken for current evidence.
- Prepare a short explanation of each file's relevance.
A large folder is not automatically persuasive. A current utility bill may support occupation, while a company record supports legal identity. Neither should be described as proving something it does not establish.
Prepare before opening the evidence form
For suspended or disabled profiles, Google states that the evidence form must be submitted within 60 minutes of opening it. Otherwise, the evidence will not attach to the appeal. Follow the suspension-specific instructions.
Prepare files and explanatory text before starting that step. Check that the submitting account controls the correct profile. Save the submission confirmation and a copy of the evidence index. Record the appeal status rather than guessing from public visibility alone.
Fictional worked example: a mobile cleaning company
This invented example concerns Willow Cleaning Limited. The owner replaces a home address with an accountant's registered-office address. The profile later becomes suspended. The timing is recorded, but the cause remains unconfirmed.
| Observation | Check and correction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| The profile suggests customers visit the accountant's office. | The owner confirms that no cleaning customers attend there. | Written explanation of the office's correspondence role. |
| The cleaners travel to customer premises. | The owner checks the service-area setup and correct operating base. | Current operational records and relevant location documents. |
| The website calls the address a local branch. | The editor removes that inaccurate claim and explains the mobile service. | Dated before-and-after page captures. |
The owner prepares the corrected location explanation and relevant records before opening the evidence form. The next action is an appeal through the official tool. The example claims no reinstatement, review recovery, or completion date.
Keep the case understandable
After submission, retain the correction record and monitor the official appeal status. Avoid speculative edits that make the evidence describe an outdated profile. If another accurate change is necessary, record it and explain its relationship to the appeal.
If Google denies the appeal, its appeals guidance describes further review options where available. Examine the decision before submitting more material.

Frequently asked questions
Will hiding the address restore the profile?
Hiding the address may correct an inaccurate service-area setup. It does not establish that every issue is resolved or guarantee reinstatement.
Should I reverse the address change?
Use the accurate current operating details. Returning to an old address is inappropriate if the business no longer operates there.
Can I use a virtual office?
A mailing location alone is insufficient. Check Google's location and staffing rules against the actual premises before submitting evidence.
Will all reviews return after an appeal?
Do not assume an appeal determines every review issue. Record the affected profile and inspect any missing-review problem separately.
